NIZZA COSTEMONGHISIO 2020
The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is a little reserved and benefits from aeration. It then expresses the notes of crushed strawberry, fresh wild strawberry, roasted red cherry, fresh morello cherry, crushed blackcurrant, blackberry, as well as dried mint, vanilla, liquorice, clove, white pepper, chocolate, toasted hazelnut, eucalyptus and a fine floral bouquet (rose petals, violet, peony). The palate is expressive and savoury, with lots of gourmandise. It offers notes of wild strawberry, juicy morello cherry, raspberry coulis, red plum, crème de cassis, as well as chocolate with mint, cherry in chocolate, wild mint, liquorice, a touch of toasted hazelnut, cinnamon and vanilla (with a fine hint of pepper in the background) and fresh flowers (peony, rose petals). The finish offers good persistence, freshness, and a nice salivating acidity. The tannins are melted and supple. Gourmandise and sapidity
Score 16+/20 (Corresponding 92-93/100)

2020 Sebaste, Nizza DOCG, Barbera Superiore, Costemonghisio (RT2+)
This is a serious Barbera showing a deeply hued purplish color. Ariel Plum, blackberry, Morello cherry and hints of new leather, minerals and underbrush emerge. The palate is stuffed with bright fruit as the generous acidity makes my mouth water. Soft tannins bring up the finish, where their ripeness is evident.
This is a fine vintage for Costemonghisio.

Aged in French Tonneaux for 18 months, this 100% Barbera hails from the Nizzi DOCG
located in Vinchio, about 10 miles south south-east of Asti. This is prime Barbera
country, and this wine expresses the majestic side of the variety, where the old vines –
60 to 70 years intermixed with some younger vines – are planted in sandy soils with silt
and veins of clay. The first vintage of this wine was 2015, and 6 years into this project it
is shaping up nicely.
